Terms and Conditions

Introduction
The following terms and conditions form the basis upon which we offer driving lessons and courses to you (the student). The contract for services is between Route6 Driving School and you (the student).

  1. General conduct
    Route6 driving instructors will always be courteous, polite, clean and punctual. They will behave in a professional and ethical manner at all times. The training car will be well maintained, clean and tidy (weather permitting) and serviced regularly to provide the best available quality to students. The Route6 Driving School car(s) is fitted with dual-controls and is fully insured for driving tuition purposes. No smoking or vaping is allowed by the instructor or the student in the training car at anytime, nor will your lesson time be used for any other form of business, personal or otherwise without your expressed permission.

  2. Qualifications
    Amanda Morris, the owner of Route6 Driving School, is legally authorised to give driving tuition in the UK by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
     
  3. Course materials
    When you purchase any services from Route 6 Driving School, you will receive an online login to the Total Drive app where you can access learning materials and help with driving theory.

  4. Driving Licence and eyesight
    You must hold a current, valid driving licence (provisional or full), which must be produced on or in advance of our first driving lesson. This can be provided by email or by bringing it with you on your first lesson. You must prove your entitlement to drive and provide me with a licence check code prior to our first driving lesson. Please also check you can read a number plate at a distance of 20.5 metres and with prescribed visual aids (i.e. contact lenses or glasses) if normally worn.

  5. Safety, comfort and well being
    Safety is a shared responsibility:
  1. In the interests of comfort and safety please wear suitable footwear and clothing which does not restrict movement or is inappropriate.
  2. You must act responsibly at all times and provide undivided attention to the driving lesson at hand. If you are feeling uncomfortable, unwell or uneasy about any task please let the instructor know. 
  3. In an emergency situation you must follow the instructions given by the instructor and allow them to take control of the steering wheel if necessary to avoid an accident. They may also need to make use of the dual controls (i.e. brake and or clutch pedals) and thus override your use of them. Please understand that this is for our safety and not a personal issues. They will advise you of why their actions were necessary and assist in explaining what to do in future to avoid these situations. This is all part of the driving journey so please do not take these incidents personally. Any subsequent discussion focuses on what can be learnt rather than who was to blame.
  4. The instructor will always deliver training in a calm and measured manner so as not to alarm you or make you feel uncomfortable. They will definitely not shout at you or make sarcastic or derogatory remarks. If you feel at any stage that they have said something to offend or upset you, please make them aware.
  5. They will also not use improper language, suggestive behaviour or make physical contact.
  6. Please inform your instructor of any medication you are taking which may affect your ability to drive safely. Similarly, you should inform them of anything you feel might impact on your ability to undertake the lesson safely.
  7. In the event that you are unable to concentrate due to illness, tiredness, or your emotions, the instructor reserves the right to terminate the lesson early for safety reasons.
  1. Driving under the influence
    To ensure the safety of you and other road users we reserve the right to cancel any lesson if it is found that  you are suspected to be under the influence of drugs, legal highs and/or alcohol. If this occurs the full fee for the lesson will be non-refundable.

  2. Lesson cancellation or postponement
    Lessons cancelled within 48 hours of lesson time is non-refundable and will be full loss unless due to an emergency situation. If you cannot make your lesson, please provide more than 48 hours notice. We reserve the right to postpone lessons at any time, due to mechanical issues or if we consider that the weather or road conditions are unsuitable or dangerous for your abilities. Unfortunately, we cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred as a result of having to postpone any lessons, for whatever reason.

  3. Punctuality
    Please be punctual for your lesson appointments. The instructor will wait for 10 minutes after the start time of your lesson for you to arrive. If you do not arrive within that time, your lesson will be cancelled and will be non-refundable. A reciprocal waiting time may be necessary if they are delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. The instructor will make up any lesson time lost as a result of this at the end of the normal lesson time or as soon as possible. Any such shortfall will be recorded and credited to your lesson times.
  1. Payments
  1. You are required to make payment for courses and driving lessons in advance of training. 
  2. Any training fees paid are non-refundable in the event you decide to cancel the training once the booking has been accepted by us and placed in our diary. At this point a binding agreement is made between yourself and Route6 Driving School. This does not in any way affect your statutory rights to be provided with the goods and services you have purchased.
  3. A full refund will be given if we cannot satisfy the agreed training or course.
  4. Block bookings of 10 hours or more take priority over pay as you go lessons due to confirming paid diary slots in advance.
  1. Paid for services
    We promise to provide a full training service, as agreed, once payment has been made. 
  1. The Driving Test
    Driving tests can be booked by you or us. However, we strongly advise allowing us to decide when your test should be to give you the best chance of passing as we will know when you are ready and at a suitable level.  Driving test bookings made by us take priority over other lessons in the diary. Therefore, your lesson may be postponed to allow for another’s driving test and vice-versa. Changes to lessons  as a result will be notified immediately and a suitable time re-booked. If you book your own test, appointments must be notified to us as soon as they are known to you. We cannot guarantee, however, to be able to provide a vehicle for the test or any lessons prior if we have another driving test booked at the same or similar times.

  2. Use of the vehicle
    In the interests of public safety we reserve the right to withhold the use of the training car for your test if, in our opinion, your driving is potentially dangerous or if behaviour or abilities, which if repeated on the test, would result in a test fail.

  2. Test cancellation
    The DVSA require three clear working days (Sundays and public holidays don’t count as working days) in notice of test cancellations or postponements. Therefore if you were to cancel a test booked for a Friday, you would need to do this online no later than the preceding Monday. Failure to provide the required notice results in the loss of your test fee. We cannot be held responsible for any postponements or cancellations by you or the DVSA. However, we will do all that is possible to arrange another test as soon as possible.

  3. Special Offers and Lesson price increase
    Driving lesson and course prices are subject to change without notice. We may also decide to offer special discounts but can withdraw these at any time.

  4. Complaints
    In the event of a complaint, please allow the instructor to resolve the matter in the first instance. However, if you are not satisfied with the outcome, please call

  5. Your statutory rights
    No statements made in these terms and conditions reduce your statutory rights relating to faulty goods or services provided. We have a statutory obligation to provide you with goods and services fit for the purpose in which they were bought and described. If you have doubts about your statutory rights please contact your local Trading Standards Department or Citizen’s Advice Bureau.

  6. Gift Vouchers
    All gift vouchers purchased are only valid for 6 months from the date of purchase and subject to the following terms:
  • The gift voucher can only be used by the recipient and is non transferable.
  • The voucher is only valid for 6 months from date of purchase. This means it must be redeemed before the expiration date and will not be reissued.
  • The voucher is non-refundable.
  • The voucher has no cash value.
  • If a voucher is still valid and lost, another will be re-issued for free.
  • If lesson prices increase before the voucher is redeemed, the holder of the voucher will receive lessons at the agreed voucher rate at that time.
